Life & Childhood

The father (Marshall Mathers Jr) left him when he was a year and a half and was raised by his mother in poverty. After various changes, settled in Warren, Michigan (Detroit suburbs). At age 14 began making amateur raps under the name M & M. Production Bassmint joined the group and released the LP titled "Steppin 'onto the Scene", having left the group and and changed his stage name to "Soul Intent" in 1995 and released their first single, called "Fuckin' Backstabber".
while attending Lincoln High School, participated in freestyle battles at Osborn High School on the east side of Detroit. Although most of the members of the hip hop movement in his state are descendants of african Americans, Marshall turned out to be well accepted by the public of the hip hop underground. After repeating the ninth grade twice due to excessive absences and poor grades, he left school at 17 years.
In 1991, his maternal uncle, Ronald "Ronnie" Nelson, committed suicide with a shotgun wound to the head. Marshall was very close to him and was devastated by this fact. Today, he has a tattoo on his left arm with writing: "RIP Ronnie."

It is thought that was the day that his uncle killed his mother called him to say that she preferred that he had been dying.

The U.S. rapper Eminem confessed in an interview with the television program 60 Minutes, who was bullied when I was in school. The musician explained that it was an easy target because he was always into new schools, and even ended up in hospital.
